We looked at this poem in the 11/12th grade class and it was fun to talk about it with the students. I thought my notes were kind of funny and wanted to save them somewhere. “baby, but WHAT baby?”

           You can stop talking
but you can’t forget
the broken wires
dangling there between you.

I work in a 9th and 10th grade split class and the current English unit is Poetry. In general I’m not a fan of poetry probably because I’m intellectually lazy and shy away from the non-visual. However, I’ve had fun picking some poems apart with the kids. I really like the image of broken wires that Nowla uses to show an awkward moment between two people on the bus.
