This is kind of repost and kind of not. This is the final image and it was scanned with halfway decent color. A musician friend of mine wrote a song called Mountain and the Moon which is about how the earth and the sky have been in love since the beginning of time (see youtube video below). It’s a very sweet song and when I was bored and wanted something to paint it seemed like a good enough idea.

It isn’t perfect but I’m happy with how the painting turned out. When I was painting I thought I got a little heavy handed with the trees and hill, but now I think it works. I’ve been doing so much with comics recently that it’s weird to have a single image that has to stand up on it’s own.

Here’s two pages of a Space Madness comic I started in June. I didn’t get much past these two pages because I ran out of paper, then when I got more I was kind of over it. These pages are pretty raw and I’m on the fence about adding some color or grays or something.

In May I decided to do a test run of diary style comics as a June project. I strove to be brutally honest and recapture the spirit of being sixteen and venting on Livejournal (those were the days). In June I was still employed at a small school and quite close to many of the students and I really think there should be a certain kind of separation between teachers and students. Maybe I’ll write about this more when I reflect on my career as an educator coming to a close. Anyway, I thought if the comics were too public that students (and other people) could be TOO informed about my life. Now that there’s some separation between the events of the comic and now, I feel more comfortable releasing the comic publicly. So if you’re interested check out Love, Life, and Earthquakes. I still don’t know if I should use the Oxford comma or not.

The Batgirl image at the top of this post is actually a preview since LLE hasn’t made it into July yet.
